I am what I make
Looked at a Walt Disney illustrations book. Whoa inspiring. Malgudi and Laxman’s illustrations. They got their own identity. So does Ruskin Bond. Simple and good. Full of crisp Mussoorie air. Just like the book-keepers like him. XKCD – line drawings.. snug in their niche. British caricatures. The classic drawings of Alice in Wonderland with the cross-hatched and avuncular hookah puffing caterpillar. Those H2O+ scrub and face cleanser bottles. Bold and solid coloured. Thick thack. And yes, LUSH – as candid and natural, cool and indulgent as its blocks of strawbewwy, chocolate, porous purple and seedy papaya soaps. Unlike so much clutter, brands that chicken out and dilute their messages to suit just EVERYBODY. In short – no fun.
What am I doing creating mediocrity when I could do things exactly how I find them right. Brutal minuses. Bold additions. Whatever.. as per a mood, as per flow. Better to take a risk and have 3 hits and 4 misses than 7 also-rans. Easier said than done. More fun.
