Chicks dig my ride
Watch this.
What dyu think?
I think….
Anyway I have a problem with 'chicks'. When he cycles by wearing this, it is like he is only talking to the guys and women who read this are supposed to realise they aren’t being spoken to at all. I know I am taking this more seriously than it is meant but 3 cheers for the middle-aged guy!
He rightly says 'talk to me, why are you shouting?” though the pushing and man-handling is sad. There I must defend freedom of expression, even if it is shit expression.
Actually, everyone is shouting. And old man isn't listening much. But the cyclist isn't making a strong case at all.
And why should that cop intervene? He doesn’t have to be a spokesperson for the public all the time. Things need to be quite screwed for him to step in. Why should he have to step in and assume an authoritative role in this?
And all this mission biz - I WILL convert people to cycling is fanatic. If the cyclist really means to convert this middle-aged man and others in the crowd to cycling, isn't it amazingly obvious he is not speaking his target audience's language with 'chicks dig my ride'? It is interesting that in these times when expression is so easy and one can just splash a message publicly through the internet, that this cyclist should have an on-ground experience in expression and its impact/consequences. But all said and done, I do feel a little sorry for this cyclist.

I wish the bike guy had a copywriter friend to give him a better slogan to stick around his chest.
Right motive, wrong place, wrong audience.
That’s a battle he should never have gotten into.

“I WILL convert people to cycling is fanatic.”
Exactly! You do something if you like it. But why do you want acceptance from everyone else!
I think the fact that you are riding alone in a crowded street full of cars makes a statement by itself. And if somebody likes it they would join on their own.
What a stupid message! Really! I think somebody on an online cycling forum has the same signature. If there was any chance of a female wanting to join, she would just close the bloody website where chauvinists like these converge.

K guys
I’d like to give you guys a little background on the “cyclist”. I dont know him that well but he’s the one who started a store because the only other cycling store at that time had these extremely rude guys running it. He thought “No one should have to deal with these guys” and since then he not only helps you get the right cycle for you . he also makes sure you end up loving the sport if you don’t already do. He plans rides and answers questions that seem ridiculous. There’s a lot more…
notebook.bumsonthesaddle.com
check it out and u’ll know..
Now as far as the message goes . Do u really have to dissect it?
he’s had a lot of messages none of them chauvinistic.
I was in Bangalore for about 4 years and people, especially people with authority often like to enforce their opinion on you.
He can have “Hail Hitler” on his chest….nobody’s got the right to say anything to him.. let alone man handle him.. this incident enraged me.
He does NOT have to make a strong case. He does NOT have to explain himself. It might offend you if you’re conservative or you are a feminist or just generally..
Tell him of what you think. He’ll apologize and tear it off in front of you.
And that guy kept telling him to Get out..Get out of where??!! He was on the road…

@ mayank:
As much right as this guy has to write anything across his chest, that much right a passer-by has to question him. Anyway, not taking sides.
