Logos

Vote for your favorite logo from the following. I made these logos recently, for two new companies- BMR and Daimer.

The company BMR wants to come across as aggressive and dynamic since they are a young team, with hands on experience. Resourceful and efficient, they get things done. BMR sells earth-handling and construction machines.

Daimer sells machines, devices, industrial parts.

Before the name Daimer, we were considering Key Solutions.

Working myself up for copy

I am currently doing advertisements for real estate. Getting people to buy a house, believe in its worth. Let me see… how would I like to buy a house?

Walk into it at construction stage and see its structure, the labour being poured into it. Enter, take off my shades and let my eyes adjust to the dimness. The smell of fresh wood shavings and damp cement. Corners to hide in. Then, I’d walk up newly formed steps (no railing or flooring) and check the first floor with one wall open. That’s where the huge balcony would be. Hmm.. the plan of this house promises lots of room and space, no tiny cubicles.

For a friend’s film

A career as a voice-over artiste begins! Today, I recorded for a short film called ‘Wandering souls’ by Amit, a friend. Earlier, I recorded for a French film on fashion by Cedric Labourdette. Something nice about the studios, the chair, microphone and ear-phones; a brass trumpet lying discard on a shelf; the typical equipment boxes - black with silver corners. Let’s see what’s ahead..what more. The film takes a look at city streets through the eyes of a stray cow. Lost and melancholic mood. Zipping traffic. It questions the assumption of control. It also means that Amit spent a lot of time chasing irritable cows with long eyelashes for close-ups.

Made posters for the film. Now,

comment and Cast your vote for Poster Pink, Black or No.3.

What do you feel is the difference in mood in the three posters?

Except that the cow in poster 2 looks fatter.

Delhi afternoon unwind.. Cafe Turtle

It’s a hot Sunday afternoon in Delhi and I am looking for a laidback lounge to sit at, read a book, get a couple of chilled drinks. Not a table and chair, “NOW EAT” set up. Let’s see… Café Coffee Day Lounge in Hauz Khas is extremely convenient, but done to death. Maybe Café Turtle in Khan market is the answer. I’ll let you know. Meanwhile, recommendations people!

After a visit to Café Turtle, Khan Market, Delhi –

Not curl your legs up type. No couches but roomy chairs. Not theme crazy (!). The whole place is a summer cooler. Wooden chairs with chipped paint look – blue and green scrapes. Tall glass drinks - mint iced tea (must try), ginger fizz, mango panna lassi, cold coffees.. the works. Books and things to eat. Sunlight filtering in through the outdoors, orange curtains. All you expect..put nicely. Good. Now, which place next?

Spellcheck

And then Malice turned to Route and said “Tiffin hai?” She said “Nope. Just finished it with Avenge.” Malice could see Satanist was pinging her online… It was lunch time in office and her tummy was beginning to rumble. But because of markets crashing, all shops closing, trading stopping, there was no food in town. In the world. And even Oprah couldn’t change things.

Malice is Malvika

Route is Rijuta

Satanist is Satyajit

Avenge is Naveenji

Oprah is accepted by MS Word.

Who is the 'correct' you according to MS Word Spellcheck?

Fatafat Delhi over the ages

South Delhi (13th century onwards…)

The Slave Dynasty, and the Lodis and Tughlaqs came to the Mehrauli side of Delhi. This is the most ancient area of Delhi with the Qutb Minar and Tughlakabad Fort. Even the Rajuts lived in the region for some time and Prithviraj Chauhan developed Rai Pithoragarh here. In fact, pillars from it have been used in the Islamic structure of Qutb Minar.

North Delhi (mid 17th century onwards…)

Then the Mughals came. Shah Jahan established Shahjahanabad at opposite end of Mehrauli. Shahjahanabad is present-day Old Delhi – the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk (full of gramaphone shops) and Jama Masjid.

Central Delhi (late 19th century onwards…)

The Brits chose a barren patch of land bang in the middle of South and North Delhi. This became Connaught Place. High up on Raisina hill, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President’s residence and the largest palace in the world, was built. It was originally made for the Viceroy but soon after the construction was completed, the Britishers were kicked out India. (Heh heh..)

How did east and west Delhi came about? Maybe a spontaneous proliferation of concrete. I don’t know. And that’s how Delhi came to be made. One BIG city.

Taxi No. HR 55 HT 1099

Close on the heels of Soumya Vishwanathan…

If you report an FIR against sexual harassment, a case will be registered and you will have to follow it up for years, giving proof and appearing in court. That’s what I was told by police from Defence Colony, New Delhi Police Station. Last evening (3rd October), I approached them with an immediate report regarding lewd language and disgusting overtures made by a taxi driver (Taxi No. – HR 55 HT 1099) near Gargi college at 8:00 pm. The policemen were polite and co-operative but I wonder if anything will happen.

And…You know you are an addict when you want to end an FIR with a link to your blog.
